Rule of thirds
The rule of thirds is the separation of a photograph into thirds. By separating the picture into the thirds, it outlines the important or "eye-catching" sections of the picture. The rule of thirds can be enhanced by applying the grid to the photo, and crop accordingly.
In this picture, I wanted to draw the attention to the center of the flower. In order to achieve this, I cropped the picture so that the grid lines up on the center of the flower.
In this picture, you see that your eyes are drawn to the flowers in the focus. At first, it was difficult to decipher what the focus of picture was; but with the rule of thirds, I was able to crop the picture so that the flowers were in the most attractive angle.
I was drawn to capture this picture because the puddle served as a mirror to the sky. To follow the rule of thirds, with the grid, I cropped the picture accordingly. Hopefully, when you look at the picture, your eyes are drawn to the heel of the boot and the sky!
